现任珠海区域气候-环境-生态预测预警协同创新中心主任,北京师范大学珠海分校未来地球研究院院长,北京师范大学地表过程与资源生态国家重点实验室副主任,全球变化亚太研究网络(APN)科学指导委员会委员,世界气候研究计划(WCRP)中国委员会委员,GEWEX中国委员会主席,CLiC&IACS中国委员会副主席,政府间气候变化委员会IPCC AR5主要作者和中国未来地球计划(Future Earth)模式专家组组长。曾任中国科学院兰州高原大气物理研究所常务副所长、中国科学院大气物理研究所副所长、中国气象局国家气候中心主任、WMO气候学委员会OPAG4(气候应用和服务工作组)主席、CLIVAR科学指导委员会委员、中国气象学会气候委员会主任委员、国家气候委员会气候应用与服务分委员会主任委员。1999年获国务院突出贡献专家特殊津贴;2005年荣获中国科学院优秀导师奖及导师科研奖。
